Dominick Benedetto (b. 2003) is a composer, violinist, and pianist who is based in his hometown of Dallas, Texas. Benedetto’s musical style comes from a great appreciation of the romantic era of western art music combined with a pursuit to bring the romantic style to the modern era through a vast collection of other musical genres. Music for media (including video games and film) is Benedetto’s primary area of enthusiasm, though, as an orchestral musician, he has a particular affection for concert music as well.

Benedetto’s music has had several performances with various groups, including the Centenary College Choir, Booker T. Washington HSPVA Camerata Orchestra, and Korean International School of Arts. Benedetto has also collaborated with the Southern Methodist University Guildhall as well as students from the SMU film program in multiple video game and film projects such as Hamsterballin’ and Kila: Hourbound. He has also taught several private lessons for students, and currently works as a substitute violin teacher for Lake Highlands School of Music in Dallas.

Benedetto’s interest in music began when he picked up the violin at a young age. He applied to and was accepted at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where he discovered a profound passion for the violin, and later composition as he studied with Jasmine Barnes. Benedetto participated in a masterclass hosted by Dr. James Eakin III, and instantly realized that he wanted to continue to study composition under Eakin at Centenary College of Louisiana. Benedetto received a BA in Music with a focus in composition from Centenary.

Benedetto is now working towards an MM at Southern Methodist University, where he has studied under both Dr. Robert Frank and Dr. Xi Wang. He continues to expand his horizons by learning about the vast palette of new concert music and music for media.
